Around the Cloverleaf is a photographic series that examines intersections of identity, diaspora, and matrilineal memory through the lens of a queer, first-generation Cuban American experience. Engaging the rodeo as a gendered and symbolic site, the work focuses on barrel-racing women as conduits of resilience, cultural performance, and embodied heritage. The cloverleaf riding pattern serves as a structural and conceptual metaphor for cyclical return. Through portraiture and narrative fragments, the project interrogates inherited memory and challenges dominant visual histories, positioning photography as a critical tool for reimagining belonging and the complexities of diasporic womanhood.
